Ranchi/Jaipur: Two FIRs were lodged against Karnataka BJP MLA Manikant Rathod and Rajasthan BJP leader Madan Dilawar at Ranchi's Kotwali police station and Jaipur's Sanjay Circle police station on Monday by the Congress for allegedly threatening to kill Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and his family members.

In Raipur, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee state president Rajesh Thakur lodged an FIR at the Kotwali police station. Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Rajesh Thakur alleged that the BJP leaders are trying to defame the Constitution. "In a state like Karnataka, AICC Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has been given death threat by Rathore and Dilawar. No Congress worker will remain silent," Thakur said.

During the Karnataka assembly election campaign, an audio of BJP candidate Rathod has gone viral where he allegedly abused and gave death threats to Kharge. Congress leaders alleged that the BJP wanted to get Kharge and his family members murdered.

In Jaipur, the FIR was lodged by Congress headquarters in-charge secretary Ramsingh Kaswan at Sanjay Circle police station. In the complaint, Congress said that Kharge is the national president of the Congress party and the leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, under whose leadership the Congress worker works in the public interest. "Through audio clips circulated on social media and news published in newspapers on May 7, it came to the notice of the party that some leaders and workers of the BJP have hatched a criminal conspiracy with the intention to kill Kharge along with his family," the complaint read.

The complaint stated that Rathore was repeatedly telling another person in the conversation that if he gets Kharge's mobile number, he will kill him. Referring to Dilawar, Congress complained that he had said that Mallikarjuna is 80 years and can be called by God any time. The Congress alleged that in the audio clip Rathod, Dilawar and other persons were conspiring to kill Kharge and his family members.
