146 passengers reach India from Afghanistan via various flights

Around 146 evacuees have reached India from war-torn Afghanistan via various flights on Monday. Earlier on Sunday, a total of 392 people were evacuated from the landlocked nation.

New Delhi: Around 146 people who were stranded in war-torn Afghanistan have been evacuated to India on Monday. The evacuees had reached Delhi via various flights from Doha, Qatar.

Earlier on Sunday, a total of 392 people were evacuated from the landlocked nation. It is known that efforts are being made on a war footing to rescue those people who have been stranded in Afghanistan since the Taliban take over. Some of these flights have also reached India from different countries, as they were rescued by America or other countries.

A total of 392 people came to India from Afghanistan on Sunday, among whom 168 people landed at the Hindan Air Force Station in UP's Ghaziabad. Of these, 107 were Indian citizens and 23 belonged to the Hindu and Sikh communities of Afghanistan. Among the evacuees also included two MPs - Anarkali and Narendra Singh Khalsa.

The Taliban had taken control of Kabul on August 15, and within two days of the Taliban's capture of Kabul, India had evacuated close to 200 people, which included the Indian envoy and other staffers.

The first flight had landed with over 40 people, mostly staffers of the Indian embassy, on August 16. While, the second aircraft evacuated around 150 people including Indian diplomats, officials, security personnel and some stranded Indians from Kabul on August 17.
