Hyderabad: Assam Police have arrested 14 people for posting objectionable posts supporting the Taliban and the recent development in Afghanistan, the police spokesperson said on Saturday.
The arrested are Maulana Fazul Karim, Abu Bakkar Sidique, Saidul Haque, Jawed Mazumder, MOzidul Islam, Faruk Hussain Khan, Saiyed Ahmed, Arman Hussain, Nadim Akhtar, Khandakar Nur Alom, Maulana yaseen Khan, Maulana Basiruddin Laskar, Mujib Uddin and Mortuza Hussain Khan.

The arrested persons hail from different parts of Assam, including Darrangm, Kamrup, Cachar, Barpeta and Dhubri among others. They are aged between 23 and 65 years, he said.
"Their act has attracted provisions of law of the land. People are advised to be careful with posts/likes etc. on social media platforms to avoid penal action," GP Singh, Special Director General of Assam Police, said.
"We are closely monitoring social media posts. We are taking serious action against people who have posted on social media regarding the developments in Afghanistan. Criminal cases will be registered against them as it goes against the interest of the national security," a senior official in the Assam Police said.
