Indore: In a major development in MDMA drugs smuggling case, Indore police have got important information about the five accused including the mastermind of the smuggling, Veda Prakash Vyas, who hails from Telangana.
Meanwhile, Indore police have also written a letter to Telangana police regarding this case for further investigation.
The accused have been identified as Vedprakash Vyas (50), Mangi Venkatesh (39) Dinesh Agrawal (55), Akshay Agrawal (30) and Chiman Agrawal (38). Police have also recovered cash worth Rs 13 lakhs and two cars from the accused.
According to police, the drugs were manufactured in a factory in Telangana and were being shipped to several countries.
The accused had smuggled drugs through private vehicles, public transport and trains, police said.
Among those arrested are Ved Prakash Vyas, the main accused, a resident of Hyderabad’s Jalvayu Vihar who owns a pharma factory where the drug was allegedly manufactured.
The accused confessed to their crime and accepted that Dinesh, Akshay and Chiman used to purchase ecstasy pills from Ved Prakash and Mangi and used to supply the same to parties held in the city.
All about Veda Prakash Vyas and his aides
- Vyas was previously a medical representative in a pharmaceutical company. Recently, he started a drug factory in Telangana.
- Vyas has lived in Ujjain, Dewas and Mandsaur in MP, where he came in contact with Agrawal, a resident of Indore.
- The arrested persons have smuggled a large amount of MDMA drugs wroth above Rs 100 crore so far.
- This is the largest seizure of synthetic drugs in the country and police found that 80 per cent of the drugs were pure.
- Those arrested from Indore were running a drug racket under the garb of a tent house and catering business.
- Vyas had come to Indore along with his driver Venkatesh to deliver the drug consignment and Drugs were being transported from Hyderabad to South Africa when Indore police intercepted the consignment on the outskirts of the city.
- Indore police have passed on the information to Telangana police to check what medicines are being produced by the pharma company in Hyderabad.
- Meanwhile, police are also investigating the illegal properties of Vyas, Agarwal and his aides in this entire case. Bank accounts of the accused can also be investigated.
Notably, in a major crackdown against drug peddling in the state, Indore police in Madhya Pradesh have arrested five accused for smuggling MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) drugs. It is pertinent to be mentioned here that the price of this catch is around Rs 70 crores in the international market and this is the largest seizure of drugs in India.
The investigation is underway and the police were interrogating the accused to elicit more information about the supply of the drugs and their buyers.
