Hyderabad: Amid reports of billionaire George Soros dumping all of Tesla's shares, Elon Musk likened Soros to X-Men movie franchise villain Magneto played by English actor Ian McKellen. Musk sent out a tweet to this effect. Soros reminds me of Magneto, Musk wrote. The tweet comes on a day when Musk would be at the Tesla shareholder meeting scheduled for Tuesday (May 16).

According to Marvel comics, Magneto is the embodiment of the phrase “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter”. "Magneto has dedicated his life and his extraordinary powers to defending the mutant species by any means necessary. He is a sometimes-foe, sometimes-friend to the X-Men, yet has always maintained his radical and separatist vision," it said.

George Soros, a global famed short seller, would have attended the Tesla shareholder meeting, if his hedge fund had not dumped all of its shares in the electric vehicle manufacturer. Multiple media reports cited regulatory filings of Soros Fund Management, the financier's hedge fund, and stated that it all Tesla shares acquired by it since the second quarter of 2022 were liquidated.

  • You assume they are good intentions. They are not. He wants to erode the very fabric of civilization. Soros hates humanity.

"Fun fact: Magneto's experiences during the Holocaust as a survivor shaped his perspective as well as his depth and empathy. Soro, also a Holocaust survivor, get's attacked nonstop for his good intentions which some Americans think are bad merely because they disagree with this political affiliations(sic)," Brian Krassenstein, a twitter user wrote. You assume they are good intentions. They are not. He wants to erode the very fabric of civilization. Soros hates humanity, Musk shot back at Krassenstein, replying to that tweet.

Soros remains to be one of the most successful investors in history. His fund currently manages $8.4 billion in assets. His estimate of net worth is pegged at $6.7 billion. He had donated over $30 billion to philanthropic causes. He formerly managed the Quantum Fund, which generated an average annual return of 30% over a 30-year period from 1970 to 2000. Soros also famously made a $1 billion profit in a single day in 1992 by short selling the British pound.
