Ankara: During a media briefing, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Monday lashed out at the US government over their decision of ending the sanction waivers for countries importing Iranian oil.
He said that the move is not only risky for the regions's stability but will also harm the Iranian people.
US has also said that it would end sanctions waivers for five nations including China, India, Japan, South Korea and Turkey. The move came after the condemnations from Tehran as well as Iran's oil importers, also includes China and Turkey.
Meanwhile, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomes the move and also congratulated them for tightening the sanctions enforcement on Iran.
Speaking in Ankara, Cavusoglu said,"Politically it is not right. Ethically it is not right. In terms of commerce, it is definitely not right. And it is also against international laws of commerce, against World Trade Organisation laws and it is risky for the region's stability. Who will it benefit? The US will play enemy to Iran with Israel's support. On the other hand, it will increase the oil sales of countries it works closely with. This kind of approach has never been seen in the world until now. Unfortunately, in this day and age, we're starting to see it. But, we've said it since the beginning, Turkey is against these kinds of steps and impositions."
