Prince Charles avoids handshake, offers Namaste

Britain's Prince Charles has adopted the Indian way of greeting 'Namaste' amid the outbreak of coronavirus that has killed more than 4,011 people across the world.

Hyderabad: Attending the annual Commonwealth day reception at Marlborough House in London, Britain's Prince Charles avoided handshakes with the presented dignitaries and offered Namaste amid the infectious outbreak of coronavirus.

The outbreak has so far killed 4,011 and spread to over 100 countries with more than 1,10,000 cases of infection.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte on Tuesday also called on citizens of the Netherlands to stop shaking hands to prevent spreading the coronavirus.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had encouraged the country's citizens to adopt the Indian way of greeting -- the 'Namaste' -- instead of the handshake as a preventive measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
