A WHO-led international mission will visit the virus-hit areas in China. The death toll in China post-coronavirus epidemic has risen to 811, while the confirmed cases have jumped to over 37,000.

Beijing: The World Health Organization (WHO) is set to send an international mission to the virus-hit regions in China. According to reports, the WHO received a response from China on Saturday on the dispatch of a WHO-led mission, where a new virus has emerged.

WHO Director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says the team leader will leave tomorrow and the rest of the experts will follow. Asked whether members of the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be part of the team, he replied, "We hope so."

Tedros wouldn't immediately name the leader or the rest of the team, or give further details, saying that WHO will “publicize everything as soon as we're ready.”

The death toll in China post-coronavirus epidemic rose to 811, while the confirmed cases have jumped to over 37,000. Among the 89 deaths on Sunday, 81 were from Hubei province, the epicenter of the outbreak, two in Henan, and one each in Hebei, Heilongjiang, Anhui, Shandong, Hunan and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
