Hyderabad: Putting an end to all speculations over the existence of Hamza bin Laden, son of slain Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, two top US officials have made it clear that the terror mastermind is “dead”. However, the top brass did not mention when and where Hamza was killed.
Born to Osama bin Laden and Khairiah Sabar, one of three surviving wives of the former Al-Qaeda leader, Hamza was seen as heir to the terror outfit's leadership.
Aged around 30, Hamza is believed to have been born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Hamza's grandmother, uncles and Osama's mother and brothers are still living there.
After 9/11 deadliest terror attack that shattered the US, Iran allowed Hamza and dozens of family members of the terror attack plotters to live on its soil for many years. The terror masterminds were guarded by top Iranian military officials.
At the age of 17, he married to one the daughters of Al-Qaeda leader Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah. According to media reports, later he also tied knot with daughter of the lead hijacker in the 9/11 attack Mohamed Atta.
Hamza was associated with Al-Qaeda since his childhood. He had appeared in my videos since he was a teenager.
The US State Department had identified him as a "Specially Designated Global Terrorist" in January 2017.
In March 1, the US State Department had offered a reward of USD 1 million for information on the whereabouts of Hamza.
Following the Trump administration's move, Saudi Arabia revoked Hamza’s citizenship.
Hamza bin Laden is believed to have made his last public appearance in 2018.
