SL series blast: CCTV footage of suspects inside Colombo hotel released

CCTV video shows two of the attackers accused in the Easter Sunday bombings with backpacks in the Shangri-La Hotel in Sri Lanka's capital of Colombo before the blast shook the building. More than 350 people were killed and over 500 injured in the attack.

Colombo: Sri Lankan authorities have released another CCTV footage in which two suspects of the coordinated suicide bomb attacks were seen roaming inside a luxury hotel here.

In the video, the two suspects with backpacks were seen moving inside Shangri-La hotel before the blast rocked the island nation.

The series of suicide bomb blasts targeted three churches and three hotels on Easter Sunday. More than 350 people were killed and over 500 injured in the attack.

While authorities have blamed a local group National Towheed Jammat for the attack, the Islamic State on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the attack.

Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena on Wednesday axed defence secretary Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara over mis-handling of intelligence report of possible attacks.
