Peshawar: A police officer and at least five suspected militants were killed after Pakistan security forces targeted a suspected militant hideout in the northwestern city of Peshawar.
A government spokesman in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province said that security forces raided a building in Hayatabad area on Monday night acting on intelligence about planned attacks, triggering a 15-hour shootout.
The chief minister of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, said the suspects were asked to surrender but instead they opened fire on the security forces and threw grenades, which killed an officer.
