Auckland: New Zealand port authorities announced on Thursday nine large ultra-cold freezers which can store vaccines for COVID-19 have arrived in Auckland in containers.
The freezers will form the country's central storage facility for vaccines which need to be kept at extreme low temperatures.
New Zealand has purchased 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer BioNTech shot, which is required to be stored at -80 degrees Celsius.
Health authorities have set out plans to distribute vaccines from central storage facilities to the nationwide cold chain network, which will ensure all New Zealanders have access to the immunisation programme.
