Hong Kong: On the 22nd anniversary of the handover from British to Chinese rule Hong Kong police force faced protesters early on Monday. The protesters camped on the streets since 4 am. They had gathered iron poles, bricks and guard rails to obstruct traffic on the roads.

After observing the situation police had warned the protesters not to throw bricks or charge police cordon lines. Police had appealed the protesters not to resort to violence and leave as soon as possible.

However, protestors not only obstructed the daily communication but also tried to batter their way in the legislative building.
