Washington: Following the inconclusive trade talks, that took place on Friday between US and China, Chinese Vice Premier Liu He asserted that China is not going to compromise on principles .
US has decided to increase the tariffs on the Chinese goods worth $200 billion. However , the US - China trade talks were not on the latest developments , though it encompassed that as well - the talks were about ironing out the thorny trade issues that has strained their relations in the past month. Chinese Vice Premier Liu He represented China in the talks. For the break-up of the talks the US has squarely blamed China saying that China has broken the deal by reneging on earlier commitments.
Speaking about the meeting, Liu said that it was constructive and honest as both the nations had put forward their problems and also proved their stand.
Talking to reporters, Liu said, "At present, the two countries have reached consensus in many aspects, but frankly speaking, differences still exist. I think all of the matters are crucial ones regarding our principle. So every country has its principle, and we will make no concessions on matters of principle."
Liu further said , "No difficulty can daunt us as long as we keep our faith. It's a good thing for a big country to encounter some setbacks in its development, for it can test our capacity. With joint efforts under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, our overall economy will have no problem."
About the tariffs, Liu said that they would take some countermeasures against it in order to overcome the escalating trade disputes. Liu told reporters that China and the US must cooperate to handle global challenges.
