The bill was proposed on Monday in the California State Assembly which received the support of the all the members of the assembly. The main objective behind it is to stress the importance of reducing the use of plastics and plastic wastes.

The bill will ban the use of plastic containers holding 340ml of liquid soap, shower gels etc. in the rooms of hotels, motels, resorts and other holiday inns. Now it is up to the California Governor Gavin Newsom to decide whether to sign the bill and transform it into law, to pass the bill without his signature or to reject the proposal made by the lawmaking body.

If the bill is enacted then all the hotel establishments will have to pay a fine of $ 2,000 if they violate it. A similar decision was voluntarily taken by Marriott last year, in which they decided to use in-shower dispensers instead of the amenity bottles so as to ease the way of using the products without increasing the plastic waste.
