Hyderabad: Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2 is continuing to draw audiences to the theatres even on weekdays. The movie is approaching the Rs 250 crore mark globally. This is quite a positive sign for the movie's theatrical run. As per trade reports, the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-starrer earned more than Rs 100 crore (nett) in India in just five days and made over Rs 10 crore on Tuesday.
The movie had an overall occupancy of 33.20% in the Tamil-speaking areas. Film trade analyst Rajasekhar shared on his social media handle that on its fifth day, the movie did well in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. He tweeted, "#PonniyinSelvan2 – Good hold today in TN with the usual weekday drop. Same momentum in Kerala too 👍👍."

With this, PS 2 has currently earned a total of Rs 114.75 crore in the domestic market. The movie has also been getting positive reviews from viewers abroad. Sharing the movie's performance in the US market, Lyca Productions wrote on Twitter, "Over 3.5 million $ grossed in the first weekend! Ponniyin Selvan 2 is the second film in the two-part series directed by Mani Ratnam. The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's epic novel of the same name. The first movie also broke a number of box office records and brought in Rs 500 crore globally. Besides Aishwarya, PS 2 also features an ensemble cast that includes Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, and Sobhita Dhulipala, among others.
