Hyderabad: Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday starrer upcoming romantic comedy Dream Girl 2 is pushed to August. The makers announced Dream Girl 2 new release date on Monday via social media. The film was earlier scheduled to hit big screens on July 7 but will now arrive in theaters over a month later.
Dream Girl 2 is being bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor's film production banner Balaji Motion Pictures. The new release date for Dream Girl 2 was announced with a post on the banner's social media handles. Sharing the update on the revised date, the makers shared a quirky post addressed to Pooja aka Ayushmann's 'Ashiqs' and wrote, "Pachees badi hai mast mast, kyunki @pooja___dreamgirl aa rahi hai on 25 अगस्त.😘😉 #PoojaKiKissOnAug25 💋 #DreamGirl2 releasing in theatres on 25th August, 2023."
Dream Girl 2 is the sequel to Ayushmann's 2019 release Dream Girl which was a big hit at the box office. Besides Ayushmann and Ananya, the second part also features Asrani, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Manjot Singh and Vijay Raaz among others.

The new release plan for Dream Girl 2 is being perceived to safeguard the film from the Shah Rukh Khan's highly anticipated outing Jawan which is slated to arrive in theaters on June 2. Reports about SRK's film getting pushed are doing rounds, however, official word on the is yet to be out from the makers.
Another tentpole film that would have caused Dream Girl 2 makers to revise their release date is Adipurush. Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer mythological drama is slated to hit the silver screen on June 16. By pushing the release to August, the makers of Ayushmann's film, have seemingly dodged the chances of their film getting engulfed by two major releases in a short span of time.
