Hyderabad: Bollywood actor Sunny Leone is ecstatic about her role in Anurag Kashyap's Kennedy and her debut appearance at the Cannes Film Festival for the movie's world premiere. In an interview, Anurag explained why he choose Sunny for the character of Charlie in the movie. There is not much revealed about Sunny's character in Kennedy and only a small glimpse of her is shown in the teaser. She is seen breaking into a burst of laughter after entering an elevator. The movie focuses on an insomniac ex-cop, who is assumed to be dead but is seeking redemption.
Anurag Kashyap, while speaking to the media at Cannes Film Festival 2023, said, "I swear I have never viewed her films, ever. I've seen interviews she's done. There is a certain sadness in her eyes. There has been a life in the past. I needed a woman over 40 who is being sexualized by men around her, men in their 50s and 60s. I don't need to watch the sex act or anything like that. I need to see this woman dealing with it, handling it, and making use of everything to get by and navigate. I discovered a woman in Sunny who already possessed all those qualities."
Meanwhile, the movie Kennedy also stars Rahul Bhat in a key role. The movie was screened at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival and was showcased during a midnight screening at the event, after which it received a 7-minute standing ovation amid a round of applause from the audience. Anurag Kashyap walked the red carpet with the film's stars Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat.
