Cash, drugs, liquor seized ahead of polls in Hailakandi

Ahead of the Lok Sabha election, the Election Commission has seized Rs 12.88 lakh cash, 950 grams of narcotic drugs and liquor worth Rs 1.21 lakh till date from Hailakandi district of Assam.

Hailakandi(Assam): Election Commission teams have seized over Rs 4.5 lakh unaccounted cash from two different places in Hailakandi district, a government release said on Monday.

A sum of Rs 3.47 lakh was seized from a vehicle at Lala bypass (Chandrapur) on Sunday and one person been detained for the unaccounted cash, it said. In another incident at Gaglacherra bridge, Rs 1.10 lakh was seized from a person.

Rs 1.21 lakh have been seized in the district so far, the release added.
