Raipur: In a case of negligence by the hospital staff, Nirmala Barmal who tested positive for Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Raipur's Phundhar, went 'missing' on April 10. Also, the news about the patient having gone missing was not informed to the family till April 14.
On April 14th, as there was no update from the hospital staff, Anjali Barmal and the patient's son went to the Covid hospital and insisted on talking to the patient, they were told that the patient was referred to some other hospital on April 10 itself. However, their statements and the hospital records did not match. While going through the attendance sheet, the name of some Vijayalakshmi was mentioned. When efforts were made to trace the whereabouts of the patient using the contact number mentioned in the hospital register, the phone call was attended by someone named Nirmala Kachori.

Dr Hemant, working in the Phundar hospital said that the patient was referred on April 10 itself to a hospital in Makahara. On inspecting the CCTVs, Nirmala Barmal's son Dhananjay Barmal said that his mother could be seen in CCTV footage of the hospital.
It was being told that she was taken to the Ambedkar Hospital, but when Dhananjay and Nirmala reached Ambedkar Hospital, there was no patient admitted at the hospital with that name.

However, none of the hospital staff has an idea about where the woman was taken to.
