89th Indian Air Force Day: PM Modi salutes the spirit of 'Air Warriors'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted the Indian Air Force personnel and their families on the occasion of 89th Indian Air Force Day. He also saluted the spirit of 'Air Warriors' for their selfless service. The parade on the occasion of Air Force Day has already begun at the Hindon Air Base in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greeting to all Indian Air Force personnel and their family members on the occasion of 89th Indian Air Force Day.

"Greetings to our air warriors and their families on Air Force Day. The Indian Air Force is synonymous with courage, diligence and professionalism. They have distinguished themselves in defending the country and through their humanitarian spirit in times of challenges," PM Modi tweeted.

The parade on the occasion of Air Force Day has already begun at the Hindon Air Base in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, with flag bearing skydivers of the famous AKASH GANGA Team dropping out from a massive transport heavy lifter aircraft in their colourful canopies.

A flypast comprising heritage aircraft, modern transport aircraft and frontline fighter aircraft will also be held and the event will conclude with a spellbinding aerobatic display.

Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh, Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane and CDS General Bipin Rawat are present at the event.

The IAF was established on October 8, 1932, in undivided India which was under colonial rule. It was given the prefix "Royal" by King George VI for its contribution during the Second World War. The prefix was later dropped in 1950 when India became a republic.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and several other politicians also extended their wishes to Indian Air Force (IAF).
