Bhopal: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Bhopal Lok Sabha seat Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur on Thursday alleged that she was tortured by police officials while she was in jail in connection with the Malegaon blast case.
"Police kept me in illegal custody for 13 days and use to hit me with belts," she said while addressing the BJP workers in Bhopal.
Sadhvi Pragya also claimed that police wanted her to accept that she was involved in the Malegaon blast case. "They wanted me to say that I carried out the blast to kill Muslims. They use to beat me all day and night," she said.
While explaining her time in the custody Sadhvi Pragya broke down and said that no woman should go through such pain.
She is currently out on bail.
Sadhvi Pragya is among seven accused facing trial in Malegaon blast case, in which six people were killed and a dozen others were injured when a bomb placed on a motorcycle exploded in Maharashtra's Malegaon in September 2008.
