The efforts of the governments have been very successful in ensuring that the daughters of the country get a good education, on par with the boys. When someone, who ekes out a living by working hard on the road, works towards the empowerment of India's daughters then this becomes quite interesting. Also, when we hear about a daughter of a rickshaw puller passing exams like IAS, it definitely inspires others to pursue their dreams.
The story of Vidisha's Ram Prakash is somewhat similar
People who know Ram Prakash Kevat identify him as a person who pulls the rickshaw painted with the slogan 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Beti Badao'. He is also seen discussing the importance of educating daughters. Ram Prakash who is blessed with five daughters, says that he is proud of them and that they would definitely make him proud someday.
Actively promotes welfare schemes announced by PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme on 22 January 2015 in Panipat, Haryana to uplift the daughters of the country, in a bid to make them self-reliant. The scheme helped improve the female ratio in several states and better the progress of women and daughters, especially, in states like Haryana, Rajasthan.
Has been on the campaign trail for the last 5 years
Rickshaw puller Ram Prakash Kewat says that it has been over 5 years since he began campaigning with the slogan 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Beti Badao'. He takes girl students to school in his rickshaw and has campaigned several times in Bhopal. Though he finds it hard to run his family, Ram Prakash is doing his best to give a good education to his both daughters, studying in 9th and 10th. He says that girls must always be provided with books.
Women and Child Development Department lauds Ram Prakash's efforts
Brijesh Shivhare, an official of the Women and Child Development Department in Vidisha, lauded the efforts by Ram Prakash Kewat in promoting the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao scheme in the district, despite being a labourer. He said that with such small efforts, the daughters in Vidisha district can be provided good education, adding that everyone in the district needs to unite and provide their assistance.
