Amritsar (Punjab): In 2003, Dharm Singh from Jammu's Doda district who accidentally entered Pakistan from the Samba district of Jammu in 2003, was held by Pakistan Rangers for three years, and was later prosecuted.
Initially, though he was sentenced to death, it was commuted to 14 years in jail. After the completion of the sentence, he has been sent back to India from Pakistan via the Wagah-Attari border today.
According to the Protocol Officer Arunpal who was deployed at the border, Singh accidentally entered Pakistan through the border in 2003. At that time, he was 18 years old, and the eldest in his familu.
Singh is now placed in quarantine for 14 days at the Guru Nanak Hospital in Amritsar and would be handed over to his family members.
