“At Reliance and Jio, we are committed to digital healthcare in a big way, and it comprises of three core pillars: Jio 4G mobile network and JioFiber broadband, JioMeet platform, and JioHealthHub platform,” said Isha Ambani.

Citing an example of the consumer benefit of the technology, Isha Ambani said that the Reliance Foundation Hospital is using the Jio HealthHub platform to provide virtual OPD services. With regards to the education sector, Isha Ambani said JioMeet and their education technology platform Embibe are helping students across schools to get access to quality education online.

“Shortage of quality teachers is a real concern in India. Almost 30-80% teacher posts are vacant across India. So the idea is to ensure that online classes become better,” she said.

Embibe (a learning platform acquired by RIL in April 2018) is also helping students fix learning gaps by letting candidates get access to subjects from any previous year, noted Ambani.

The company also unveiled its mixed reality headset JioGlass on Wednesday that allow augmented reality video meetings and explained the role it can play for the education setor.

“JioGlass is making teachers and students come together in 3D virtual rooms and conduct holographic classes through our Jio Mixed Reality cloud in real-time. With JioGlass, the traditional way of learning Geography will now be History,” said RIL president Kiran Thomas.
