Government will do all that is needed to further economic growth: Chief Economic Advisor

Hyderabad: Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, KV Subramanian, said that India is the fastest-growing economy in the world. The CEA gave this reply in response to a question on the current slowdown in the Indian Economy.

Speaking to ETV Bharat on the sidelines of an event in the city, he said, “the government do care about the concerns and it will be focusing on economic growth and will do all that is needed to further economic growth”.

Subramanian also said that "we are the fastest growing economy in the world and we will continue to be in that position".

Replying on the question related to the much-needed investment in the economy the CEA said, "That's we highlighted in the economic survey, we talked about the virtuous cycle. We have to understand this very well that it is the investment first that actually affects productivity, which then affects wages and export and then consumption. So, it is important for us to focus on investment."

Speaking on the US-China trade war and its impact on India’s trade prospects, he said, "our export share is still very small…which is about 2 per cent of the global trade. Therefore, we still have an enormous opportunity to grow. Even if there is some shrinkage in the pie of global trade we can still grow our pie."
