Back-to-back blows in the form of Demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax adversely (GST) impacted the MSME Sector in the last two years.

Bengaluru: The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Sector plays an important role in the economic development of the country. The MSMEs contribute around 30% of the total manufacturing output and 40% of the total exports of India.

However, due to the back-to-back blows in the form of Demonetisation (November 2016) and Goods and Services Tax (GST – July 2017) proved to be severe blows to the industry.

To find more on the problems faced by MSME Sector and its wish list for the Union Budget 2019-20, ETV Bharat spoke to Basavaraj Javali, Chairman of Southern MSME Committee and President of Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA).
