Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has initiated an action to launch banking services through ration shops. Banking service will be connected with the e-PoS machine at the ration shops and will be strictly based on Aadhaar. With this service, public will be able to withdraw, deposit and transfer money to another account.
According to the reports, the government will launch the service in association with State Bank of India, HDFC, Kotak Mahindra, Fino Payments Bank and Bank of Baroda. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed with the banks soon. In the pilot phase of the projects, the service will be made available in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts.
The district supply officers, taluk- city rationing officers and ration shop association representatives have been summoned for a meeting to discuss the matter. The meeting will be held at land revenue hall in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.
