While talking to ETV Bharat, Guyana High Commissioner to India David Goldwin Pollard confirmed that the production of the oil in his country will start in the first quarter of next year and it will be available for sale in the future.

New Delhi: India is the third largest oil importer in the world. With U.S. sanctions on two of it's biggest oil suppliers Iran and Venezuela hurting India interest, Guyana can turn out be a credible alternative for the Modi administration.

In 2015, ExxonMobil, one of the world's biggest energy firm had made a discovery of over 5 billion oil-equivalent barrels in the offshore Starbroek in Guyana.

When ETV Bharat met the Guyana High Commissioner to India David Goldwin Pollard confirmed that the production of the oil in his country will start in the first quarter of next year and it will be available for sale in the future.

In an exclusive conversation with us, the Guyana High Commissioner to India said, 'I am sure as the time evolves and after oil production starts, there will be a more complex trading relationship between India and Guyana which will encompass oil and other products as well.'

Applauding India's achievements in the solar energy, the Guyana High Commissioner said that his country would like to enhance its partnership with India in this field as it is committed to green state development strategy.

The Guyana High Commissioner to India even claimed that governments of both countries are aware of the bilateral relationship as there is a strong government to government connect.
