Sultanpur to get its first 'Electricity' police station

Electricity department of Sultanpur will soon have its own police stations to register cases of line loss, electricity theft, 'katiya' and illegal connections. Sub-inspector level officer will register cases and make inquires. These stations are expected to show significant impact in the prevention of electricity theft.

Sultanpur: In order to reduce the involvement of police for cases related to electricity department, Sultanpur will soon have electricity police stations.

The electricity police station will be located in the premises of the electricity department and a sub-inspector level officer will be in charge.

Their work will involve registering of lawsuit of line loss, electricity theft, 'katiya' and illegal connections, arresting the accused, and sending them to jail.

Generally, cases belonging to the electricity department take a lot of time to get registered in the local police stations and are subject to hours of waiting for inquiries.

The problem was informed to the government, and the proposal to open such a police station was approved.

The electricity department will give land for the construction of the electricity police stations, which will be situated in the middle of its residential colony.

It has been decided to open the station in the Dariyapur locality, Sultanpur.

Superintendent Engineer, Mohammad Aslam said that a place is being selected for opening the station. Sub-inspector level officer will sit in the station and will register cases and make inquires.

These stations will show significant impact in the prevention of electricity theft.
