New Delhi: The Congress party on Thursday alleged that its chief Rahul Gandhi is having threat to his life in Amethi and demanded from Centre to 'neutralise the threat if any'.
In a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the party claimed a breach in security and said a laser was pointed at Rahul Gandhi while he was addressing media after filing nominations in Amethi on Wednesday.
The party asserted that laser was pointed towards him at least seven times during his public address.
Before filing his nominations Rahul Gandhi, with his sister Priyanka Gandhi, conducted a big roadshow in Amethi.
The party has asked Centre to investigate and neutralise the threat to its leader if there was any.
Giving details on the incident, the Congress stated that a green laser was pointed at least seven times at Gandhi's head.
In the letter, it also mentioned the assassination in the Gandhi family and expressed grave concern at the 'possibility of the Congress President being targeted by a potential assassin'.
