New Delhi: With an aim to support protesting farmers, Indian Youth Congress arranged food, shelter and medical facilities for the protestors, here in Delhi at their headquarters.

Thousands of farmers are protesting against the recently enacted farm laws, facing lathi charge, water cannons and tear gas shells from the police. However, the farmers have now got permission to enter into the national capital and currently, they are staging a peaceful protest at Nirankari Ground in Burari.

While speaking about the initiative, IYC President Srinivas B V said, "From the last 2 days, farmers are trying to enter into Delhi but this Government is not ready to speak to them. These are our 'anndaata' upon whom the BJP Government is lathi charging. Many of them are so old and winter is ahead, where will they go to take rest?"

"Congress was always in support of farmers. Therefore, we have arranged food, shelter and medical facilities for them. But we would also like to appeal to them to maintain peace," he added.

Meanwhile, the Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar appealed to the farmers' organizations to be patient, while inviting them for talks on December 3.

"BJP government should speak to these farmers as soon as possible. The government should not suppress these farmers just for the gains of two or three industrialists," said Srinivas.
