The accused Marianus Oraon has been arrested. It is alleged that he murdered his father-in-law, Maharu Oraon (67), his sister-in-law, Peno Oraon (27) and a neighbour, Albert Minz.

Darjeeling: A mere family feud took an extremely tragic turn in Siliguri under Darjeeling district of West Bengal, when a person killed three including two of his close relatives.

The accused Marianus Oraon has been arrested. It is alleged that he murdered his father-in-law, Maharu Oraon (67), his sister-in-law, Peno Oraon (27) and a neighbour, Albert Minz.

Police sources said that Peno Oraon was a permanent staff in the local Sachindra Chandra Tea Estate. On Monday evening after she returned home from duty, Marianus Oraon attacked her, stabbing her repeatedly with a knife. Maharu Oraon tried to save his daughter and then Marianus Oraon also killed him with the same knife. Albert Minz, a neighbour who reached the crime scene and he was not spared. He was also hacked by the killer in the same pattern.

Soon after the incident, Marianus escaped from the place. The manager of the local Kharibari tea garden, VP Singh reached the spot and informed the local police station. The three victims were shifted to the local rural hospital in critical condition. There the doctors declared Peno and Maharu as "brought dead". Albert was then shifted to North Bengal Medical College & Hospital. But he died on late Monday night.

According to the deputy superintendent of police, Achinto Gupta, the suspect escaped after murdering three persons. "However, he was arrested late Monday night," Gupta said.

The bodies of the victims have been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. It is presumed that family feud was the reason behind this tragedy. The police are probing the matter.
