M.Venkaiah Naidu heaps praise on Bharat Biotech

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu today visited Bharat Biotech's production facility at Genome Valley in the city. Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali also participated in the program. Vice President visited the Covaxin manufacturing process and appreciated the efforts of Bharat Biotech and the scientists for their role in the fight against Covid pandemic.

Hyderabad: Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu today visited Bharat Biotech's production facility at Genome Valley in the city. Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali also participated in the program. Vice President visited the Covaxin manufacturing process and appreciated the efforts of Bharat Biotech and the scientists for their role in the fight against Covid pandemic.

Vice President said that Bharat Biotech has distributed four billion Covid vaccines to the world till date. He lauded the scientists of the country, who are protecting the lives of people in several countries. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said that Hyderabad is a centre for bulk manufacturing of drugs and vaccines. Almost 40 per cent of the total drugs in India are produced from Hyderabad.

The city is also contributing 50 per cent to the country's drugs export. He added that Genome Valley has played a key role in the biotechnology sector and has placed Hyderabad in the top position in the country. Vice President heartily congratulated Bharat Biotech's team for producing the Covaxin drug in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Institute of Virology. Venkaiah Naidu said that the temporary decline in Covid-19 cases should not make us complacent.

We should take it as a breathing space to get our act together so that we can face any subsequent health challenges with greater confidence and commitment. The urgent task is to vaccinate all as quickly as possible all over India. The Vice President said that the constantly mutating virus poses unforeseen challenges and forces the scientific community to find solutions that will save lives and protect livelihoods. He called for individual and collective contributions to the national and international effort.
