Thiruvananthapuram: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya will arrive in Kerala today to assess the preventive measures against the spread of Covid. More than half of the Covid cases reported in the country are in Kerala. It is in this context that the Centre is paying special attention to Kerala.

The Union Minister will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram in the afternoon and will hold discussions with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Health Minister Veena George will also attend the discussion. The health department is also holding meetings with top officials. The Union Health Minister will visit HLL and Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

A six-member expert committee appointed by the Ministry of Health has also arrived in Kerala to assess the situation in the state. The central team is examining in detail, the recurrences of the virus in vaccinated people. Such a test is based on the suspicion that the virus has been modified. The central team had directed the state to separately calculate the incidence of the disease in those who have been vaccinated.

In Kerala, the recurrence of the virus is more prevalent among the young people than the aged. The Department of Health has found that people between the ages of 20 and 30 are more likely to report re-infection.

The health department estimates that Covid has infected 2,301 people for the second time in the state so far. But the department admits that this is not an accurate calculation.

From October last year to April this year, Covid was tested again to see if there was any recurrence of the disease. A second interval of 102 days was set according to international standards to assess whether Covid was affects a second time.

However, since this information has not been verified from the outset, it is not possible to know whether those seeking treatment in a private hospital have been infected by Covid for the second time. Therefore, the number of cases is likely to increase further.
