Tripura: In a series of raids conducted by the police based on the inputs of the intelligence unit, Tripura police confiscated more than Rs 75 lakh unaccounted cash, about 45,000 rupees worth Bangladeshi currency, 572 grams of gold, some Bangladesh manufactured contraband tablets and narcotic products.

Additional Superintendent of police West Tripura, Jagadishwar Reddy said, "based on the intelligence inputs, two police teams were formed under the leadership of SDPO Sadar and SDPO Amtali".

After conducting raids for nearly five hours, a team of SDPO NCC seized more than 33,000 bottles of banned cough syrup from a lorry.

"Our effort to neutralize the drug menace shall continue", said Reddy.

According to the police, the Excise department and Enforcement Directorate has been asked to investigate Banik's case, as there is a possibility of Hawala transactions.
