New Delhi: Tributes poured in for late Samajwadi Party (SP) patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav who passed away on Monday. Hailing him as "Dharti Putra" (son of the soil) President Draupadi Murmu said that his loss is an irreparable loss to the country.
She also said that Mulayam was respected by leaders across the party line. The death of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav is an irreparable loss to the country. The achievements of Mulayam Singh Yadav ji, who came from an ordinary environment, were extraordinary. 'Dharti Putra' Mulayam ji was a veteran leader associated with the land. He was respected by people of all parties. My deepest condolences to his family and supporters!," tweeted the President.
Fondly recalling his interactions with Mulayam, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that despite political rivalry the SP veteran always had cordial relations with other party leaders. " Regardless of political rivalry, Mulayam Singh ji had the best relations. Whenever he met him, he would talk about many subjects with a very open mind. Interactions with him on many occasions will always be fresh in my memory. My condolences to his family and supporters in this hour of grief" tweeted Singh.
"Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav ji was a grassroots leader who played a prominent role in the politics of Uttar Pradesh for many decades. In his long public life, he worked in many positions and contributed to the development of the country, society and the state. His death is very painful," he stated in another tweet.
Condoling his demise, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Mulayam will always be remembered as a grassroots mass leader. "Mulayam Singh Yadav ji remained active in politics for decades with his unique political skills. During the Emergency, he raised his voice for the restoration of democracy. He will always be remembered as a grassroots mass leader. His death marks the end of an era in Indian politics.," tweeted Shah. "I express my condolences to his family and supporters in this hour of grief. May God give place to the departed soul at his feet. peace peace peace," he stated in another tweet.
"He (Mulayam) was a people's leader. He devoted all his life to the welfare of the poor. He used to respect all religions and fight for all religions. There's no person in India who would not be grieved on this day," said National Conference leader and Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the State Government has declared three-day of State mourning on the demise of the SP veteran. "On the death of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav ji, the Uttar Pradesh government announces three days of state mourning. His last rites will be performed with full state honors," tweeted Adityanath.
Describing Mulayam as "pillar of democracy" BJP president J P Nadda tweeted " The political acumen of Mulayam Singh Yadav was amazing. For decades, he served the society and the nation by becoming a pillar of Indian politics." "He will always be remembered as a grassroots transformationalist, a leader of social harmony, an advocate of democratic values in times of emergency. His passing is an irreparable loss," he stated in another tweet.
Condoling Mulayam's death Union Minister Nitin Gadkari tweeted "The news of the demise of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and senior leader of Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav ji is sad. My heartfelt tribute to him," tweeted Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
"I personally have got a lot of affection from Mulayam Singh ji, while taking the decision of e-rickshaw, Mulayam Singh ji had strong support. May God rest the departed soul and give strength to the family members. peace," he stated in another tweet.

Interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi also condoled his demise. "As the Defense Minister of the country and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, the contribution of Mulayam Singh will always be remembered," Sonia said in a statement.
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi hailed Mulayam as a "true warrior" associated with grassroots politics. " The death of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav ji is very sad news. He was a true warrior associated with grassroots politics. I express my deepest condolences to all the bereaved family members including Shri Akhilesh Yadav," tweeted Rahul.
Condoling Mulayam's death, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted "Received the sad news of the demise of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav ji. His incomparable contribution to Indian politics as a former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Defense Minister of the Government of India and a strong advocate of social justice will always be remembered. @yadavakhilesh And my deepest condolences to all the other loved ones."
The SP patriarch's once bitter political rival Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) chief Mayawati also condoled his demise. "Very sad news of the passing away of veteran Samajwadi Party leader and former Chief Minister of UP Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji today. My deepest condolences to his family and all well-wishers," she stated in a tweet.
"Received the sad news of the demise of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and socialist leader Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav. May God rest the departed soul at his feet and give strength to all his fans and family members to bear this immense loss. peace," tweeted AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed her grief. "I am deeply saddened to learn about the demise of the great national leader & founder of the Samajwadi Party, Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji. His passing is a major loss to our country and our polity. My deepest condolences to his family and his followers" tweeted Banerjee.
"Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Union Minister, and Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away. Mulayam Singh Ji has contributed a lot to the development of Uttar Pradesh. I share in the grief of his family. May his soul rest in eternal peace," tweeted Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
"The news of the demise of the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, former Union Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav is sad. I offer them my heartfelt tributes. He worked with leaders like Ram Manoharji Lohia and contributed to the politics of Uttar Pradesh for a long time," tweeted Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Odisha Congress Chief Sarat Pattanayak expressed condolence over the demise of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. Expressing grief over the death of Yadav, CM Patnaik said that the socialist leader will always be remembered for his contribution to uplifting the downtrodden.

PCC president( Odisha Congress Chief) Sarat Pattanayak said, "I had the opportunity to work with Mulayam Singh when I was MP. He was a gentle politician. My deepest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace."
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed grief by tweeting, "the news of the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav 'Netaji', the socialist leader and son of the soil of Uttar Pradesh, is like the collapse of a rock of Indian democratic foundation. As the Chief Minister of UP and Union Minister, he served the public. He stood against communalism throughout his life.''
Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singhdev also condoled the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav by tweeting, "The news of the death of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji is sad for Indian politics. May God give him a place at his feet."
Former Chief Minister Raman Singh tweeted, "The news of the death of former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and founder of Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav is deeply saddened. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed soul and patience to the bereaved family and supporters in this difficult time.''
JCCJ leader Amit Jogi expressed condolences by tweeting, "The death of Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji, the patron of the Samajwadi Party, the former Defense Minister of the country, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, is very sad. My father late Ajit Jogi was a Rajya Sabha MP during Mulayam Singh's tenure as Defense Minister. At that time, Papa had many conversations with him. May God give strength to the entire family including Akhilesh Yadav Ji to bear this sorrow and give place to Mulayam Singh Ji's soul at his feet. The death of Mulayam Singh Ji is a personal loss for me. With his death, I have lost one of my parents today.''
Former Minister and NCP leader Jayant Patil said, "Mulayam Singh Yadav's demise closes a chapter in Indian politics. A son of the soil, he led the socialist movement along with Lohia and JP. Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Anurag Thakur have also expressed grief for Singh's demise. Union Minister Irani said, "the demise of Samajwadi Party founder and former UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh is extremely sad. He said that the public will always remember him for his struggle to protect democracy during the Emergency and for his important contribution to Indian politics."
At the same time, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said, "the death of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav is the end of an era in Indian politics. Mulayam Singh had his own style of politics which influenced the pros and cons. He said that he was a great leader connected with the people. He was very popular among the people. "I got to learn a lot from the former Chief Minister and the work he has done to protect democracy during the emergency, followed by public welfare through politics will always be remembered. "
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar expressed grief and tweeted, 'The death of the founder of Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji is an irreparable loss to the political field. Haryana Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala has also expressed grief over the death of Mulayam Singh and tweeted, 'It is very sad to hear about the demise of the founder of Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Hon'ble Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji. Netaji's passing is a big loss for the country. May God give peace to the departed soul. Give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this sad time. Peace!'
Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur has expressed grief over the demise and said that Netaji has always helped the poor. "His passing is a political loss," he added. At the same time, BJP National President and Himachal Congress President Pratibha Singh have also expressed grief and tweeted, "The death of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, the patron of Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, is an irreparable loss to Indian politics. May God give him a place at his feet and give strength to his family and supporters to bear this loss."
MP and CPM Politburo member Hannan Mollah on Monday said that Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav was a well-versed politician and his image and name will certainly help the party in the next year's Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh. "His (Mulayam Singh Yadav's) presence should have been a better influence, but during his absence, his image and name will help the party," said Mollah to ETV Bharat.
"He was a well-versed and serious politician. He propagated his socialist idea amongst people and he always tried to defend the interest of the common people...In India, he was respectable among all politicians. He also did good work for Uttar Pradesh when he was the Chief Minister," Mollah said. "At the present day, politicians keep abusing each other and goes beyond dignity...we will feel the absence of such politicians like Mulayam Singh Yadav," he added.
