Air India on Monday confirmed that its commercial flight operations to Kabul have been stalled due to the closure of Afghanistan airspace. Meanwhile, Air India's AI 126 Chicago-Delhi flight has been diverted to Gulf airspace following the developments.

Centre in its two-page affidavit submitted in SC on Pegasus issue denies all allegations made against the govt by petitioners. The government denied that it was a spyware that was used to snoop on journalists, politicians and staff.

Former Congress MP Sushmita Dev has resigned from the party amid speculations that she would be joining the Mamata Banerjee-led All India Trinamool Congress. In a letter to Sonia Gandhi on Sunday, Sushmita, without mentioning the reason for her decision to quit, spoke about beginning a new chapter in her public life.

2. UNSC to hold emergency meeting today as Taliban conquer Afghanistan

The United Nations Security Council will convene an emergency meeting on Afghanistan on Monday, as Kabul fell into the hands of the Taliban the previous day. The UNSC comprises five permanent members - United States, Britain, France, Russia and China.

3. Indian Idol 12: Pawandeep Rajan wins the reality show

Pawandeep Rajan from Champawat, Uttarakhand, lifted the Indian Idol Season 12 trophy and took home a cheque of Rs 25 lakh and a Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire after being declared winner at the The Greatest Finale Ever of the Sony Entertainment Television reality show late on Sunday night.

4. COVID-19: India logs close to 33K fresh cases; 417 deaths

India reported 32,937 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a bulletin from the Union Health Ministry stated at 8 am on Monday. In the same duration, the country saw 35,909 recoveries and 417 deaths.

5. Taliban's 'Red Unit' spearheads blitzkrieg in Afghanistan

From a military point of view, the fast fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban and the abject giving-in by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) or the regular Afghanistan government troops and the police forces is as spectacular as the forward march of the Taliban forces, many riding in captured American-made Humvees, even as they moved into Kabul on Sunday.
