Illegal Rohingya migrants pose a threat to national security and there are reports that some of them have indulged in illegal activities, Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai's written reply came in response to a question by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) member Ritesh Pandey.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked Bharatiya Janata Party Members of Parliament to take truth and facts about the government's work before the people so that the opposition's lies won't fill the vacuum created by lack of communication or truth.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has begun the probe in connection with a sensational gang-rape case involving a woman from Bangladesh, in Bengaluru. The NIA has lodged a separate FIR which involves human trafficking and illegal border crossing.

5. Heavy showers continue to drench Mumbai, Delhi; at least 7 killed

A 27-year-old man drowned at a railway underpass in south Delhi's Pul Prahladpur area while he was reportedly trying to take a selfie in the rains. It is being said that the man slipped and drowned as the area was waterlogged. There were several reports of water-logging since Monday morning. A DTC bus was also reported to have broken down at Kanjhawala Chowk, leading to traffic jams.

TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee Monday taunted Union Home Minister Amit Shah over allegations of snooping against him, saying Shah was unable to save his face from the humiliation of Bengal assembly poll defeat despite spying on him. He mockingly asked the senior BJP leader to come back well prepared for 2024 Lok Sabha polls.  

2. Court sends entire family to judicial custody for dowry harassment, says this has to 'stop forever'

As dowry harassment cases are occupying the centre stage, with even Kerala Governor staging a protest, a court here hearing a dowry case has sent all four family members that include a doctor to judicial custody for alleged physical and mental torture of a woman.

3. Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan's latest poster out, film to hit big screens in 2022

The first part of filmmaker Mani Ratnam's Tamil-language historical drama Ponniyin Selvan is set to be released in 2022, the makers announced on Monday. The star-studded magnum opus features an ensemble of actors like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others.

4. Bezos' space flight on 52 years of moon landing!

Jeff Bezos will blast off to space at 6:30 PM (IST) on Tuesday, joined by his brother Mark Bezos, woman aviator Wally Funk (82) and teenager Oliver Daemen, from West Texas, United States, on board the Blue Origin's New Shepard capsule. Today's event holds a special significance as it was on this day that the Apollo 11 had landed on the moon 52-years ago in the year 1969.

The United States and its allies on Monday blamed the Chinese government for the massive hack of Microsoft Exchange email server software and asserted that Beijing-affiliated cyber operators have conducted ransomware operations.

Mumbai crime branch on Monday night arrested businessman and Bollywood actor Shilpa's Shetty's husband Raj Kundra on charges of creating pornographic content and uploading them on some apps.

2. Pegasus Snoop Gate threatens to derail the monsoon session

An investigative report by a group of international publications led by France based Forbidden Stories, which also partnered with an Indian news portal The Wire, led to a stormy start to the monsoon session of the Parliament as a combative opposition targeted the government for alleged spying of politicians and journalists and election officials.

3. Pegasus Project report: AAP MP gives Zero Hour notice in Rajya Sabha

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday gave a Zero Hour notice in Rajya Sabha on the 'Pegasus Project' media report. On Monday, the AAP MP had given a 'suspension of business' notice under Rule 267 over revelations of the scale of Pegasus spyware.

4. 30 killed in bomb blast in Iraqi capital

A roadside bomb attack targeted a Baghdad suburb Monday, killing at least 30 people and wounding dozens of others at a crowded market, Iraqi medical officials said. The attack took place in the Wahailat market in Sadr City, Iraq’s military said in a statement.
