1) PM Modi Cabinet 2.0: New Ministers get to work

Around 43 ministers including 36 new faces who have been inducted into the Modi cabinet have taken charge today. Among those ministers who took charge early today are - Ashwini Vaishnaw, Meenakshi Lekhi, Anurag Thakur, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Kiren Rijiju, Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Danve Raosaheb Dadarao, Mansukh Mandaviya, Dr Bharati Pravin and Ramchandra Prasad Singh.

2) WATCH: Smoke erupts at CBI building

Tense situation prevailed after smoke started billowing out of the CBI building in New Delhi on Thursday afternoon. Soon, firefighters were pressed into service, who managed to partially douse the smoke. A CBI officer said the smoke was due to short circuit in the generator. No fire and damage to properties were reported

3) Troublesome Twitter: A bumby road ahead for the microblogging site

The fierce engagement between Twitter and Indian government doesn't seem to end anytime soon with the Delhi High Court cautioning the American microblogging site to conform to the Indian laws and appoint a resident grievances officer soon. The court said violating the IT Rules would land Twitter in "trouble".

4) Police gun down 4 after Haiti president assassinated

Four persons suspected of assassinating Haiti's President Jovenel Moise have been killed in a shootout with the security forces, police said. Two others have been detained, while officers are still in combat with some remaining suspects in Haiti capital Port-au-Prince, the BBC reported citing officials. "They will be killed or captured," police chief Leon Charles said.

5) Explained: Cairn Energy secures French court order to seize 20 Indian govt properties

In a setback to India, Britain's Cairn Energy Plc has secured a French court order to seize some 20 government properties in Paris to recover a part of the USD 1.7 billion (approx Rs 12,660 crore) due from New Delhi following an arbitration panel overturning levy of retrospective taxes.

1) Dr Harsh Vardhan may land a new responsibility in BJP

Prior to the cabinet expansion of the Modi government, the most shocking name among those ministers who had tendered their resignations was that of Chandni Chowk MP Dr Harsh Vardhan. Speculations are now rife, that he can be given a new responsibility in view of the current situation in Delhi State BJP and the upcoming municipal elections.  

2) 36 highly learned professionals find place in Modi 2.0 cabinet

The reshuffle in the union cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has seen 36 new faces holding various professional degrees. The new cabinet looks promising with two are former IAS officers, eight lawyers, four doctors, four MBA degree holders and several engineers.  

3) Uttar Pradesh Police defend move to issue notice to Twitter MD

The Uttar Pradesh Police have defended their move to issue a notice to Twitter MD Manish Maheshwari, insisting he attend a hearing in connection with the investigation of an FIR related to a Ghaziabad video, which had stoked a controversy.

1) Four militants killed in separate gunbattles in Jammu and Kashmir

Four militants were killed in two separate gunbattles with security forces in Kulgam and Pulwama districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Zodar area of Kulgam district following information about presence of militants in the area, a police official said.

2) Himachal ex-CM Virbhadra Singh passes away at 87

Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress leader Virbhadra Singh passed away in the early hours of Thursday after battling prolonged illness. He was 87.

3) Will perform our responsibilities with utmost sincerity: New Ministers pledge

Following his induction into the Union Cabinet on Wednesday, Sarbananda Sonowal said that he has got another opportunity to serve the people of the country.
