1. Sushil Modi to file nomination for RS by-poll today

Former deputy chief minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi will file his nomination as a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the Rajya Sabha by-poll at the Commissioner office in Patna on Wednesday. Sushil Modi has been made the candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat that got vacated after the death of Lok Janshakti Party leader and former union minister Ram Vilas Paswan.

2. Ex-Karnataka minister Varthur Prakash abducted, later released: Cops

Former Karnataka minister Varthur Prakash was allegedly abducted by eight people on November 27 but released the next day, police sources said on Tuesday. According to them, Prakash was released near Hoskote on the outskirts of Bengaluru on November 28.

3. 46.6% polling in Greater Hyderabad civic polls

Over 46.6 per cent voters cast their votes on Tuesday in the elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) which was largely peaceful and smooth, barring a goof-up which led to poll postponement in one division, election officials said.

4. Russia deploys missiles to Pacific islands claimed by Japan

The Russian military on Tuesday announced the deployment of state-of-the-art air defense missiles to the Pacific islands claimed by Japan. Russia's Eastern Military District said in a statement that the S-300V4 air defense missile systems have entered combat duty on the Kuril Islands, adding punch to the shorter range Tor M2 missile systems deployed there earlier.

6. Cyclone 'Burevi' to hit Tamil Nadu on Dec 4

Cyclone Burevi is very likely to hit Tamil Nadu on December 4, the Cyclone Warning Division of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday. This is the second cyclone that is predicted to hit the state in a week. Last week, a very severe cyclonic storm, Nivar, had battered the southern state.

7. Chhattisgarh: One dead, two injured as bus mows down bike

One person died and two were grievously injured in an accident involving a motorcycle and a bus near the Katghora bus stop at Korba in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday evening. In the CCTV footage of the accident that has gone viral, the bike carrying three can be seen coming under the wheels of the bus. The driver of the bus fled the scene soon after the incident.
