Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, who was undergoing treatment at a Gurugram hospital after testing positive for the COVID-19, breathed his last after multi-organ failure in the wee hours of Wednesday, his son Faisal confirmed. He was 71.

2. Russian virus vaccine to cost less than USD 10 per dose abroad

Russia released new results Tuesday claiming its experimental COVID-19 vaccine was highly effective and promised it would cost less on international markets than vaccines by some of its Western competitors. According to the Russian Direct Investment Fund, which bankrolled the development of the jab, Sputnik V will cost less than 10 USD per dose or less than USD 20 for the two doses needed to vaccinate one person on international markets. The vaccination will be free for Russians, the Fund said.

3. PM Modi to attend centennial foundation day celebration of Lucknow varsity today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Centennial Foundation Day celebration of the University of Lucknow and release a special commemorative postal stamp on the occasion via video conferencing on Wednesday. The Lucknow University was established in 1920 and is celebrating its centennial (100th) year. Modi will attend the celebration of Centennial Foundation Day of the University of Lucknow on November 25, 2020, at 5:30 pm via video conferencing, a statement from the Prime Minister's Office said.

4. Telangana BJP chief's surgical strike comment sparks row

BJP's Telangana state unit president Bandi Sanjay Kumar sparked a row on Tuesday with his comment that after BJP's victory in Greater Hyderabad civic polls, surgical strikes will be carried out on the old city. While campaigning for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, the BJP leader stated that after BJP wins the polls and its leader becomes the Mayor, surgical strikes will be carried out on the old city to drive away pro-Pakistan elements and Rohingyas.

5. Delhi air quality in severe category

Delhi's overall air quality deteriorated to the severe category from "very poor" on Wednesday morning. The national capital's AQI was in "severe" category on November 15 the last time but after that, it had improved and remained in either "poor" or "moderate" category until November 22.

6. Kerala to bring ordinance to withdraw police Act amendment: CM

Kerala Cabinet has decided to issue a fresh ordinance to withdraw the Section 118 A, added to the Kerala Police Act, under which offenders, convicted of bullying, insulting or disgracing individuals through any content, knowing it to be false, through any communication medium, were to be awarded a sentence of three years/penalty of Rs 10,000 or both.

7. Kevadia: An emerging world-class tourist destination

The two-day 80th All India Presiding Officers Conference also known as Speakers' Conference will be held in Kevadia starting Wednesday. 9. ED releases Sena MLA Sarnaik's son after 5 hours of interrogation

The Enforcement Directorate released Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik's son Vihang after five hours of interrogation. Vihang was brought to the ED's office in Mumbai for questioning following raids at premises which the central agency linked to his father in connection with a money laundering case on Tuesday. The searches were conducted by the central agency at 10 locations linked to Sarnaik in Thane and Mumbai under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

10. Telangana selected for COVID vaccine dry run

The Central Government has decided to conduct a pre-readiness test (dry run) in order to make the Covid vaccine available to the public. For this, 3 states across the country have been selected. Of these, Telangana and Haryana have been confirmed while Uttar Pradesh or Gujarat is likely to be the third state. The procedures which are to be followed when vaccinating are tested experimentally in the dry run.
