The Left parties on Saturday extended their support to the nationwide strike called by farmers' organisations on December 8. The Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), Revolutionary Socialist Party and All India Forward Bloc made the announcement in a joint statement.

2.Stalin stages protest against farm laws in Tamil Nadu's Salem

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President MK Stalin on Saturday held a protest rally in Salem against the farm laws introduced by the central government and also extended support to farmers' agitation. The DMK chief said that there is no mention of minimum support price (MSP) in the farm laws and farmers are demanding that only.

3.'No helmet, no fuel' rule in Kolkata from Dec 8

No two-wheeler rider will be given petrol at the petrol pump if he or she is found without a helmet within the jurisdiction of Kolkata Police from December 8. According to an official order by Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma, the rule will be applicable even if the pillion rider arrives at the petrol pump without a helmet.

4.Biden says planning scaled-down inauguration to prevent crowds amid pandemic

US President-elect Joe Biden announced plans for a scaled-down ceremony for his January inauguration amid the coronavirus pandemic. "The foremost thing is we're going to follow, again, the science and the recommendation of the experts on keeping people safe. So it's highly unlikely there'll be a million people on the mall going all the way down," Biden told a news conference on Friday.

5.Voting underway for Kuwait parliamentary elections

Voting was underway on Saturday for the parliamentary elections in Kuwait with 326 candidates running for 50 seats. The voting process started at 8 a.m. and will proceed continue till 8 p.m., Xinhua news agency reported. The 50 elected members of the National Assembly are elected from five 10-seat constituencies by single non-transferable vote.

6. Alliance Air commences Mumbai-Goa daily direct flights

Air India subsidiary Alliance Air on Saturday said it commenced daily direct flight operations from Mumbai to Goa. According to the airline, the inaugural flight operates on Friday had a hundred per cent load factor
