This is how the new Parliament building will look like

The new complex will have 888 seats in the Lok Sabha chamber and 384 seats in the Rajya Sabha chamber. Unlike the present parliament building, it will not have a central hall.

Hyderabad: The inauguration of the Parliament building on May 28 has run into a wall of protest by opposition parties. Amid all the hue and cry, the first look of the structure has been released showcasing the length and breadth of the grand edifice, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28. The new complex which is in a triangular shape has been built next to the existing complex and will be almost equal to the former one.

The new complex will have 888 seats in the Lok Sabha chamber and 384 seats in the Rajya Sabha chamber. Unlike the present parliament building, it will not have a central hall. The Lok Sabha chamber will be able to house 1,272 members in case of a joint session. The rest of the building will have 4 floors with offices of ministers and committee rooms.

The new building will also house a 'Sengol.' It is a historical sceptre made in Tamil Nadu and inspired by Chola Kingdom era 'Sengol' for transferring power from one ruler to another, which was given to the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to represent the transfer of power and will be installed in the new Parliament building to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28.

Encouraging the citizens to share the just-released video, PM Modi said, "The new Parliament building will make every Indian proud. This video offers a glimpse of this iconic building.
