Hyderabad (Telangana): Telugu actor and politician Pawan Kalyan has contracted coronavirus and is undergoing treatment at his farmhouse in Hyderabad, the JanaSena party said in a statement on Friday. His political secretary P Hariprasad said the actor's health condition is stable.
"Kalyan is being monitored closely by his personal doctor as well as a team of experts from Apollo Hospitals. There is some phlegm in his lungs and he is suffering from small bouts of fever. But he is stable," Hariprasad said.
The actor was found to be ailing after returning to Hyderabad, following his public meeting in Tirupati in the run-up to the high octane Lok Sabha Scheduled Castes-reserved by-election.
The JanaSena party founder's initial Covid test was negative, however, he had quarantined himself at his farmhouse. Despite this, he started suffering from fever and body pain, prompting another test, results of which turned out to be positive.
Doctors have put him on antiviral drugs after monitoring his lungs and are providing oxygen.
The JanaSena founder, who divides his time between movies and politics, promised to return to his 'admirers and people' with complete health.
His elder brother and cinema legend Chiranjeevi and other family members are regularly checking on him.
Meanwhile, the Tirupati by-poll is scheduled for Saturday, on which the BJP and its ally JanaSena have pinned high hopes on.
Kalyan is currently savouring the success of his latest film ''Vakeel Saab,'' a remake of Amitabh Bachchan's 'Pink'.
