Patna: Leader of opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Monday asked the RJD leaders to gear up for the assembly election next year. He made this claim during the review meeting of the party held at the party office.
Tejashwi virtually stated that the present government will not complete its full term and there is going to be a midterm poll in Bihar next year.
“I have asked all the leaders and workers to be ready for the early election which is going to take place most probably next year itself, “Tejashwi said while speaking to the reporters soon after the review meeting which lasted for more than three hours.
During the close door meeting, Tejashwi stressed upon early polls and asked the leaders to keep on raising the issues related to the welfare of the people. The review meeting was held after 41 days after the election results in which the top leadership also discussed the future strategy.
“It is not a big thing if an assembly election would be held anytime now. So, accordingly our workers and leaders have to be prepared,” Yadav said, having RJD state unit president Jagdanand Singh at his side.
RJD has emerged as the single largest party in Bihar election with 75 seats. However, the party could not retain the last assembly election's performance in which it had secured victory on 80 seats.
Tejashwi also used the opportunity to raise the issue related to farmers and asked the party leaders to continuously support the farmers stand. He also took the feedback from the candidates who lost elections.
Yadav also took a jibe at the state government and said,"Maha jungle raja ka Maharaj kaun hai? The unemployment and the crime graph of the state is rising. Where is Susashan?"
During the meeting, several senior leaders of the party accepted that somewhere there as a mistake from RJD side as well due to which they lost several winning seats. The Muslim face of the party and senior leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui said it categorically that leaders should stop blaming EVM.

“We should not blame EVM for the defeat, there was no problem with it. In fact, the problem was our own polling agents who were not active during the election," Siddiqui said in the meeting in front of Tejashwi and Tej Pratap Yadav.
Siddiqui lost the election on Keoti seat. In fact, many other sitting seats which RJD lost include Jamui, Ashthawa, Hilsa and Saharsha.
Another reason for RJD-led stopped Mahagathbandhan to not being able to form government in the state include setbacks in Mithilanchal and Seemanchal belt, and also bad performance of Congress party.
Congress contested on 70 seats but only won 19. Three left parties of Bihar performed far better than Congress and secured victory on 16 seats out of 29.
During the meeting, Tejashwi stressed that the present government is standing on the crutch of two smaller parties.

“Anything can happen in one night so be ready for the midterm poll as the present government is standing on a crutch of smaller parties. Big development can take place at night," Tejashwi asserted adding that soon he will go out on thanksgiving yatra across the state.
Sources in the RJD revealed that during the meeting few senior leaders like Brishan Patel even blamed Tejashwi for the setback. Patel stated that Tejashwi restricted himself with few people and did not listen to the senior leaders due to which people could not get messages at grass-root level.
