Suspected militants attack CRPF team in J&K's Shopian, constable injured

A Central Reserve Police Force personnel was injured after suspected militants attacked a CRPF party in South Kashmir's Shopian district on Tuesday.

Shopian (Jammu-Kashmir): A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, Constable Ajay Kumar, was injured after suspected militants targeted a CRPF party in South Kashmir's Shopian district on Tuesday morning. According to the information, militants opened fire on a CRPF party in the Kralchak Zinapura area of Shopian district, while they were carrying out road opening duties. The CRPF personnel retaliated and in the ensuing gunfire, Kumar was injured.

"Today morning unidentified militants fired upon on CRPF Party at Kralcheck area of Shopian's Zainapora. During the attack, one CRPF personnel was injured," a senior police officer said. He further said, "The injured person has been shifted to a nearby hospital where his condition is said to be stable."

Meanwhile, the whole area has been cordoned off and security forces have launched a search operation to nab the attackers.

Earlier, on July 30, four CRPF troopers, including a junior officer, and a civilian were injured in a militant grenade attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.

In a similar incident, on June 4, militants had opened fire on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. There were no casualties in the incident. The CRPF convoy was on its way to Srinagar from the Chadoora area in Budgam.
