New Delhi: Ahead of the Monsoon Session starting from July 19, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has called a meeting of the party's Parliamentary Strategy Group on July 14 to prepare a strategy to corner the Government in the upcoming session. This meeting will be held virtually.
Congress President may also discuss the change of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha during this meeting, before making any final announcement. Though, no formal confirmation has been given by the party regarding this matter.
This comes amid speculations of replacing Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary from the post of LoP, Lok Sabha. Congress has earlier called such reports "planted".
It has been said that Congress wants a leader in Lok Sabha who is a more articulate speaker and can represent the party's viewpoint in a more effective and aggressive manner in the house, due to which names of Shashi Tharoor, Manish Tewari, Ravneet Bittu and Gaurav Gogoi are making rounds.
Congress is going to prepare a strategy to target the government over the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, vaccination rate, preparation for the third wave of Covid, rising fuel prices, inflation, giving statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, the economic situation in the country and unemployment.
