Speaking to media persons, Soni said, “When we talk about the stereotype, we as a community has proved it wrong that we are focused on one space. We are choosing different fields. There are a lot of transgender women who have worked in different fields. From hospitality to civil services, transgender women have made a mark."

Shaine Soni is a fashion designer by profession and her decision to be a part of the pageant can be termed as ‘bold’ and ‘confident' breaking all shackles of stereotypes in the society and at the same time uplifting the morale of other transwomen in the country.

“As far as this platform is a concern, what we aim to do is bring change through education. Education is the only weapon that doesn’t hurt anyone and it does it needful. I will use education as a means to bring about whatever revolution we have," Soni said.

"It has become very important for all of us to project Indian transwomen at an international pageant in a very contemporary way. I am aiming to change the perception of what internationally people assume about transgender women. I want Indian transgender women to be received internationally with all the glory and love that we deserve”, Soni stated.

"People do have a wrong notion about pageants. I think pageants are not just about beauty or glamour, it is a platform where people get to hear one, as voice matters. It gives strength and voice where people can hear us. Pageants like trans queen India gives us a very strong voice", added Soni.

Miss Transqueen India was first established in 2017 and involves all the trappings of a traditional beauty pageant –photoshoots, talent round, elaborate costumes, judges and hundreds of audience and members.
