Mumbai: A day after his release from jail Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut met his party leader Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday. After being greeted by Uddhav Thackeray’s son and former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray Raut outside the Thackerays’ private residence ‘Matoshree’ Uddhav in a joint press conference with Raut accused Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju of trying to bring the judiciary under the control of the Centre.
“The Law Minister is trying to bring the judiciary under Government's control. It is a matter of concern for the peple/ People should be worried about this. Yesterday's order makes it clear that the Centre is resorting to vindictive politics. I am thankful to the judiciary,”
Earlier in the day, Raut termed his arrest by the ED as "politically motivated" adding that such "vendetta politics" was not seen in the country in the past. He thanked Uddhav for supporting his family when he was in jail adding that when he spoke to Thackeray his voice became heavy indicating that it was an emotional interaction. Interestingly Raut praised Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and said that the Government run by him has taken some good decisions.
A special court in Mumbai granted bail to Raut on Wednesday, saying his arrest was “illegal” and a “witch-hunt”. The ED had arrested Raut in a money laundering case related to the Patra Chawl redevelopment project.
